I hope that when you wear these shoes that you feel part of a fairytale!
All my creations are made with ‘That Fairytale Feeling‘ on the Isle of Islay, Scotland.
I love making creations with a Fairytale Feeling. From Cinderella’s shoe, to the imagination found in Alice in Wonderland, fairy tales hold so much inspiration for me and it is a feeling that people from all over the world who love fairy tales share. It is not simply imagery and tales that can magically transport us to a fascinating fairytale world, but also physical items. That is why I enjoy creating them so much. It is not simply how they look, or what they represent, but the feeling that they give us.
My journey of creating shoes for brides began when I was working on a feature inspired by the genre ‘Faery Steampunk’ for FAE magazine (Faeries and Enchantment Magazine). I was writing a feature about this genre and its fashion and was modeling unique outfits designed especially for it. I needed to find shoes that would match the outfits and the theme. When I couldn’t find what I was looking for I decided to make my own! I was so pleased with how they turned out that I decided to offer them for sale on Etsy and I soon realised that my main customers were brides looking for something unique to wear on their wedding day. Custom orders rolled in and my shop slowly grew. I quickly learned what brides wanted when discussing shoe designs with them. Your dream day should have dream shoes and I feel privileged when I am chosen to help bring magic to that special day.
As well as being an artist, I am also an author, musical composer, harper, poet, columnist for FAE magazine, and artists’ model. The shoes I create for my Etsy store are just one of the ways I manifest ‘That Fairytale Feeling’. Through this art I hope to bring that feeling to others and make a dream come true.
